Apple Launches New iPad Mini With 8.5-Inch OLED Display and A20 Pro Chip

Apple has launched the new iPad mini, bringing a major upgrade to its smallest tablet. The latest model features a larger 8.5-inch OLED display, the powerful A20 Pro chip, a thinner design, and IP67 water and dust resistance.

New 8.5-Inch OLED Display

One of the biggest upgrades is the new 8.5-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display. Apple has reduced the bezels by 24%, allowing the company to fit a larger screen while keeping the tablet compact.

The display offers up to 1,200 nits of peak HDR brightness, a 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio, and a minimum brightness of 1 nit. A nano-texture display option is also available on select storage variants to help reduce glare.

However, the new iPad mini still misses out on Apple’s 120Hz ProMotion technology and remains limited to a 60Hz refresh rate.

A20 Pro Chip and Apple Intelligence

The A20 Pro chip brings a significant performance boost. According to Apple, the new iPad mini delivers up to 60% faster multithreaded CPU performance, up to 2.7x faster graphics, and up to 4.5x faster AI performance compared with the previous generation.

It runs iPadOS 27 and supports Apple Intelligence and Siri AI features.

Camera, Design and Connectivity

The new iPad mini is just 5.4mm thick and weighs as little as 255 grams. It also gets IP67 water and dust resistance.

Apple has moved the 12MP Center Stage front camera to the landscape edge, while the back features a 12MP Wide camera. The N1 networking chip adds Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 support, while cellular models use Apple’s C2 modem.

iPad Mini Price and Availability

The new iPad mini starts at $699 in the US and ₹82,900 in India for the 128GB Wi-Fi model.

Pre-orders begin on October 28, while sales start on November 6. It will be available in Midnight and Starlight, with 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB storage options.
