Apple’s OLED Touchscreen MacBook Pro Could Launch Soon: What We Know So Far

Apple may be preparing to make one of the biggest changes to the MacBook Pro lineup in years. According to reports from Apple-focused sources, the company is working on a new MacBook Pro featuring an OLED touchscreen display, with the launch reportedly expected as early as November 2026.

The move would mark a major shift for Apple, which has traditionally avoided touchscreen displays on its MacBooks. Apple executives have previously argued that the Mac is designed primarily for indirect input, while the iPad handles touch-based computing.

OLED Display and Touchscreen

The upcoming MacBook Pro is expected to feature an OLED display with touch support, potentially offering deeper blacks, higher contrast, and improved viewing angles compared with the current mini-LED panels.

The touchscreen technology could also make the MacBook more interactive, although Apple is yet to officially confirm the feature.

Lighter Design

The new MacBook Pro could also receive a significant redesign internally. Reports suggest Apple is working on smaller components and a reorganised internal layout, which could make the laptop considerably lighter than the current 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models.

What About the Chip?

Interestingly, reports suggest the first touchscreen OLED MacBook Pro could use existing M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, rather than waiting for the next-generation M7 Pro and M7 Max processors.

A future model with newer chips could reportedly arrive later, potentially giving users a choice between getting the new OLED touchscreen design earlier or waiting for the next major chip upgrade.

A Major Change for Apple

The introduction of a touchscreen MacBook would represent a significant change in Apple’s long-standing laptop strategy. With OLED, touch support, and a lighter design reportedly coming together, the next MacBook Pro could become one of Apple’s most interesting Mac releases in years.

Apple has not officially confirmed the touchscreen MacBook Pro yet, so the reported specifications and launch timing should be treated as rumours until the company makes an announcement.
