Google Fitbit Edge: Fitness Tracker
Google Fitbit Edge Launched: New Fitness Tracker Offers 7-Day Battery Life and GPS
Google has introduced the Fitbit Edge, a new fitness tracker designed for people who want smartwatch-like features without wearing a bulky smartwatch. Priced at $179.99, the device sits between the screenless Fitbit Air and the Pixel Watch 5, combining a slim design with a display and advanced health-tracking tools.
Google Fitbit Edge Features and Fitness Tracking
The Fitbit Edge features a 1.34-inch colour AMOLED display that shows fitness statistics, weather updates, notifications, music controls and Google Maps directions. Its lightweight aluminium body measures around 11.5mm thick, making it suitable for everyday use.
For fitness enthusiasts, the tracker offers built-in GPS, an altimeter and support for more than 50 exercise modes. Google says its GPS tracking is up to 40% more accurate than previous generations. It can also automatically recognise and record up to 100 activities, including walking, running and cycling.
Health monitoring features include heart-rate tracking, blood oxygen measurements, skin temperature monitoring and ECG readings. The device also works with Google’s Health Coach, powered by Gemini, which provides personalised fitness plans through a Google Health Premium subscription.
Battery Life and Special Features
Google claims the Fitbit Edge can last up to seven days on a single charge. However, using the always-on display can reduce battery life to around two days. The tracker also supports fast magnetic charging, with five minutes of charging providing up to a day’s use.
Another notable addition is its user-replaceable battery, which could help extend the device’s lifespan. It is also water-resistant up to 50 metres.
Google Fitbit Edge Price and Availability
The Google Fitbit Edge costs $179.99 and is available for preorder, with retail availability starting October 27, 2026. It comes in four colours: Obsidian, Fog, Olive, and Canyon. A Stephen Curry Special Edition is priced at $219.99.
However, the device lacks NFC payments, a microphone, and a speaker, so it cannot fully replace a traditional smartwatch. For users prioritising fitness tracking, GPS, and battery life, the Fitbit Edge offers an interesting alternative.
